National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) is embracing employee feedback as a key driver in shaping strategy and managing change - supported by real-time insights from the WorkBuzz platform.

Building on a survey partnership with Agenda Consulting spanning many years, NFER has transitioned to using the WorkBuzz survey platform to continue their employee listening initiatives, and are reaping the benefits of the simple, intuitive and insightful platform.
In recent years, the organisation has used pulse surveys to gather targeted feedback on specific issues, including DEI and change management.
These focused surveys led to tangible outcomes such as the creation of an EDI advisory group and charter, as well as a celebration calendar to mark occasions and recognize different groups, like pride month and black history month. NFER also gained valuable insights into social mobility issues and internal communication gaps, which provided data-points to drive initiatives for improving inclusivity.
NFER continue to commit to their employee listening programme by running consistent engagement surveys – designing the questions to align with organisational priorities.
NFER are on a journey to embedding employee feedback into strategic decision-making, despite a risk-averse culture which, like many organisations in heavily regulated sectors, has previously shown resistance to change. The HR team, alongside senior leadership, are championing a positive approach to managing change and prioritising employee feedback throughout.
The WorkBuzz platform is supporting NFER on this journey by providing quick and accessible insight into how their people perceive crucial topics like leadership, communications, and change. The ability to easily slice and dice engagement survey data in WorkBuzz enables NFER to efficiently conduct detailed demographic analysis - identifying trends and patterns in employee feedback.
The HR team are looking to develop further communication of survey results and action, demonstrating the impact of the employee voice. NFER seek to further increase the appetite for providing and listening to feedback throughout the organisation.
NFER plans to continue using WorkBuzz to run annual engagement surveys as well as explore pulse surveys to provide regular opportunities for employees to provide feedback.
